Another recent sale on the beachfront strip known as the Strand in Hermosa Beach reveals a bit about this high end market. The home at 1534 The Strand had been on the market for quite a while and was originally listed with another agent. The home was originally priced at $11,900,000 back in June of 2019 with a number of price reductions leading up to the final list price of $9,999,000. This beachfront home eventually sold for $3.2M below the original list price which is pretty reflective of the Strand real estate market in both Hermosa and Manhattan Beach.
The home was very nice with quite an abundance of custom features. The top level was pretty spectacular and the showcase of the home with a huge deck that offered an ocean view jacuzzi, outdoor kitchen, spacious seating area and something pretty rare for Strand homes…..a bit of privacy.
Located beachfront at 72 The Strand in Hermosa Beach, this 2 bedroom condo offers an incredible location with endless views of the beach and ocean. Own your piece of paradise and make this the perfect home, vacation home or rental property. Another property in this building just went into escrow but unlike the other unit, this home practically sits on the sand with one of the finest beaches in the world just steps away. Priced at $2,099,000 72 The Strand offers 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bath and approximately 819 square feet of living space.

7 Beachfront homes now on the market in Hermosa Beach
The Strand is the beachfront stretch of homes in Hermosa Beach. There are a very limited number of homes in this rare location and due to the fact that there are no empty lots…..the number of beachfront homes is definitely not increasing.
That’s what makes the current market so rare….with 7 beachfront homes currently on the market. Homes range from a condo (address is beachfront but the condo itself isn’t) to a number of homes with fairly incredible prices. See below for all of the homes currently on the market on the Hermosa Beach Strand.

Pricing and Patience Key When Selling Oceanfront Homes in Manhattan Beach
The market for beachfront homes on the Strand in Manhattan Beach is very unlike the rest of the South Bay or even the rest of Manhattan Beach. As these oceanfront homes garner prices unrealistic for even high end home buyers, they often sit on the market or have numerous price reductions before selling. As they’re also frequently pulled off of the market and then put back on with different realtors, the days on market is actually considerably higher than it shows. Some homes can sit on the market for several years.
At the moment there are 5 active homes for sale on The Strand in Manhattan Beach, but that’s with 4 homes recently being removed from the MLS or expiring. Most of these are likely to make another apppearance soon.
homes recently pulled off of the MLS for one reason or another.

Current Beach Front Homes for Sale on The Strand in Manhattan Beach
New Oceanfront Lease listing at 507 Paseo de la playa
If you read any of our South Bay real estate blog posts you know that one of our favorite streets in all of the South Bay is the oceanfront street of Paseo De La Playa. This homes are simply incredible with massive lots extending all the way to the sand, stunning ocean views and a great sense of privacy as the homes sit high on a hill. The lease listing at 507 Paseo De La Playa offers all of that. The home is a bit dated but the focus is squarely what lies just outside. This home offers 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and approximately 2,600 square feet on two levels.
6939 Trolleyway - Beachfront Home in Playa Del Rey
Although it’s not exactly a secret, Playa Del Rey isn’t quite as known for beachfront homes as it’s neighbors to the South in Hermosa and Manhattan. Not only are prices quite a bit more affordable but for anyone with a commute it probably shortens just about any drive by 15 to 20 minutes minimum. Welcome to 6939 Trolleyway in the small beach community of Playa Del Rey. Endless, unblockable views are yours from this 3 story, 4,000* foot home. The home is priced at $5,995,000 and offers 5 bedrooms and 4 baths. As it was 2007 construction it still enjoys the look and feel of a newer home.
The Portuguese Bend Club is unlike anything in the South Bay and Southern California….It’s like being transported to another time and place and feels more like a vacation community on a quiet beach in Mexico or Southern California in the 50’s. When your there it’s hard to believe that you’re still so close to the busy hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. The homes are generally older with some new and newer construction starting to be an influence. It has a very relaxed artsy community vibe with long term owners that love owning their little slice of paradise.
The fairly steep hillside location means that most homes have absolutely stunning views of the ocean. The private beach feels like a small resort with paddle ball and beach palapas.
PBC ammenities include a private beach with it’s own lifeguard, 24-hour gated security, paddle tennis courts, playground, palapas and barbecues on the beach. This truly is vacation living. Escape from the city and live life on vacation.
Current Homes for Sale in the Portuguese Bend Beach Club of Rancho Palos Verdes
The Village Condos in Redondo Beach CA offers some of the most affordable oceanview housing in all of Southern California. The complex also offers low HOA dues and resort like amenities so it’s certainly in high demand. The buildings consist primarily of one bedroom condos with the very occasional studio or two bedroom. 2 bedroom units are rarely for sale.
In addition to them being rare, they’re also the units closest to the water and have straight on ocean views as opposed to angled views looking in between buildings.
630 The Village #116 is a first floor condo with big ocean views. Take a look at the listing details below.
2426 The Strand - Beachfront home for sale in Hermosa Beach
Although it’s been on the market for quite a while they just had a major price reduction on the beachfront duplex at 2426 The Strand in Hermosa Beach. While price reductions on homes on The Strand in Manhattan and Hermosa Beach are very common this was a big drop. The home price dropped from $19,250,000 (which was extremely aggressive) to $15,295,000. We’ll see if that makes a difference as the oceanfront home market is quite slow despite a recent uptick in home sales along the beach.
