Only a few years ago beachfront home rarely hit the market but that’s changed considerably lately. These days beachfront homes on the Strand are very common these days but Strand sales are still rare.

Some of what made this home special was the size and layout, the ideal location in the north Hermosa sand section far from the pier, and the fact that the home next door was original making for great views even from the side of the home.

Now 10 Beachfront Homes On the Market on the Hermosa Strand

Just a few years back and a new beachfront listing would have been big news. Only a few homes alont the Strand listed each year. That’s clearly no longer the case. With the newest beachfront additions of 2826 The Strand and 230 The Strand in Hermosa Beach, there are now 10 homes and properties for sale on The Strand in Hermosa.

Of the 10 homes currently for sale on the Hermosa Beach Strand all but one are single family homes with the other being a duplex. Many of the old multi-unit properties had been torn down and replaced with beachfront mansions. With an average of 4,259 square feet of interior space…..these are clearly not original beach bungalows. The available opportunities also average 4 bedrooms and six bathrooms.

The average price for active beachfront listings is currently $11,722,300 and the median list price is $10,5000. The least expensive of the homes for sale is $8,200,000 for the older duplex at 3310 The Strand and the most expensive is today’s newest listing at $18,900,000 for the almost 8,000 giant at 2826 The Strand.

3004 The Strand in Hermosa Beach was one exception to a very saturated and very slow beachfront market. It recently closed escrow at a number well below the list price, which certainly may be one reason it sold relatively quickly compared with the rest of the market. 3033 was a classic beach house much larger than most original beach bungalows on the Strand. It was listed at $14,800,000 and closed at $12,000,000.

Originally listed in the spring of 2019, the home came out at $19,000,000. A few price reductions later it was eventually taken off the market. It’s recently come back on for a more reasonable $14,900,000. The home was built in 1932 so it’s been an iconic property on the Strand for almost 100 years. Sitting on 45′ wide lot it’s ideally located in north Hermosa so just a bit quieter than homes closer to the pier. Although it is most likely being sold strictly for the land, the current home offers 6 bedrooms, 7 baths and a bit over 4,000 square feet.

Recent Beachfront Home Sale at 1534 The Strand in Hermosa Beach Sells for $8,700,000

Another recent sale on the beachfront strip known as the Strand in Hermosa Beach reveals a bit about this high end market. The home at 1534 The Strand had been on the market for quite a while and was originally listed with another agent. The home was originally priced at $11,900,000 back in June of 2019 with a number of price reductions leading up to the final list price of $9,999,000. This beachfront home eventually sold for $3.2M below the original list price which is pretty reflective of the Strand real estate market in both Hermosa and Manhattan Beach.

The home was very nice with quite an abundance of custom features. The top level was pretty spectacular and the showcase of the home with a huge deck that offered an ocean view jacuzzi, outdoor kitchen, spacious seating area and something pretty rare for Strand homes…..a bit of privacy.
